Thank you for your interest in K-State's reclassification process!

This form is designed to collect some preliminary information about the context for your request. Your responses will be reviewed by the Compensation & Organizational Effectiveness team in Human Resources and a representative will follow up with you about your submission.

Before submitting this interest form, please review our reclassification webpage for an in-depth look at the process.

A reclassification request involves a thorough review of an employee's position description to determine the appropriate job title and pay grade for that role. Typically, reclassifications are requested when a position has gone through significant changes and no longer seems to fit in the existing title and/or pay grade. The request for reclassification process should be initiated by an employee's supervisor or next level supervisor (manager).

Knowing when to request a reclassification is important to ensure that employees are both properly classified and fairly compensated for the work they are performing. Additionally, knowing whether a position should be reclassified or considered for recruitment is important to ensure equity and equal employment opportunity for all qualified applicants, both internal and external to the University.

A request for reclassification may or may not result in an official job title change. Similarly, a request for reclassification does not guarantee any particular outcome and may result in a:
  • pay grade increase,
  • pay grade decrease, or
  • no change at all.

Please continue to submit preliminary information about a potential reclassification request. Please note: this is the first step in a multi-step process. Submitting this interest form does not officially submit the position for reclassification.
