The Dean Barbara S. Stowe Faculty Development Fund
Award Amount: $ 5,000 (One Time Award)

Purpose
The Dean Barbara S. Stowe Faculty Development Fund was established to support faculty who translate researchbased knowledge into practice in higher education, business, industry, or public policy. An annual award from this fund will support outstanding faculty in their pursuit of professional growth. Preference will be given for awards to faculty who seek to understand and impact public issues and/or public policy and to attain national prominence. This fund is intended to support travel and related expenses incurred during a professional development experience.
Eligibility
- The recipient of this award shall be a full-time or at minimum half-time appointment (9 or 12 months) in the College of Health and Human Sciences.
- In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.
- An individual who receives this award may be nominated again for a different endeavor.
Criteria
Primary criteria for evaluation include: potential for enhancing scholarship of teaching, research and/or service; capacity to become a national leader in a human ecology specialization; preference to applicants with demonstrated interest and ability in public issues; clarity and strength of proposal, including statement of justification.

Describe how you, K-State, and the College of Health and Human Sciences will benefit from this experience. • If appropriate, attach a conference or seminar program announcement or letter of invitation from a mentor, indicating willingness to mentor you and accommodate your specific goals for professional development. • Describe how your duties at Kansas State University will be covered in your absence.

Review Committee Composition and Responsibility
- The Review Committee will consist of the voting members of the College Awards Committee. Members nominated for the award will not serve on the Review Committee. Faculty on the committee who provide a recommendation form for a nominee may not vote for applicants of this award.
- Each member of the Review Committee will evaluate materials submitted by/on behalf of each nominee. The members will discuss the nominees and recommend one for the award.
- Following the committee's evaluation of the nominees, the chair of the College Award Committee will submit a written recommendation to the Dean of the CHHS. The Dean will notify the award recipient and the candidates who did not receive the award before announcing the award to the faculty, staff, and students.
